Instant noodles: Maggi Masala and Indomie
Two minutes, one pan, one sachet of seasoning, and the whole flat smells like a hostel in Delhi. For countless Indians, Maggi Masala noodles are the ultimate comfort food, and a packet or two ends up in a great many of our baskets. The Indian version is very different from the Maggi products sold in German supermarkets: its masala tastemaker brings turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli.
Alongside Maggi, Tukwila stocks Indomie chicken and Indomie vegetable noodles from Indonesia, firm favourites with students from all over the world, as well as quick-cooking noodles for busy evenings. Faragello Maggi chicken cubes are handy for seasoning soups, rice or homemade noodle dishes.
For more variety with no effort, browse our Indian ready meals, and for a crunchy snack on the side, try bhujia and namkeen. All noodles are listed under noodles.
Turning Maggi into a proper meal
- Bring roughly 220–250 ml of water to the boil per pack, or a little less if you like them drier.
- Meanwhile, fry half a chopped onion, a tomato and a green chilli in a little oil for 2 minutes.
- Add the water, noodles and masala sachet, then cook for 2 minutes, stirring.
- Finish with a handful of peas, fresh coriander or a beaten egg stirred through.
A squeeze of lime and a little grated cheese make them even more indulgent, while Indomie fans often add a fried egg on top. For an Indo-Chinese twist, season with soy sauce, chilli sauce and a dash of vinegar for speedy "Hakka noodles". Pick up fresh herbs and chillies on our coriander, mint and green chilli page, and crunchy toppings in chaat and street food.
Frequently asked questions
Do Indian Maggi noodles taste different from German Maggi?
Very much so. Indian Maggi Masala noodles come with their own tastemaker sachet of turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli, giving a distinctly spiced flavour. The Maggi products in German supermarkets are made for a completely different palate.
Are Indomie noodles spicy?
Indomie chicken and vegetable flavours are savoury rather than very hot. Many packs include a separate chilli oil or chilli powder sachet, so you control the heat. If you prefer things mild, leave it out or use just half.
Are Maggi Masala noodles vegetarian?
The Indian Maggi Masala variety is usually marked as vegetarian by the manufacturer. Recipes can vary by country of production, though, so always check the ingredient list and the symbol printed on your pack.
Can I buy instant noodles in bulk?
Yes, add as many packs to your basket as you need, which is handy for shared flats, student halls or big families. Orders travel with GLS and shipping is free from €39.99. In Dresden you can also shop in person at our store.
