Kebab, köfte and sausages
A barbecue with friends, a mezze spread or a quick dinner after work – a stash of frozen kebabs and köfte makes all of them easy. From Leziz we carry spicy Adana kebap, beef izgara köfte, Izmir köfte (also sold as cevapcici), sigir kebab, chicken burgers and tavuk sosis, the mild Turkish-style chicken sausages. Crown chicken and lamb seekh kebabs, chicken nuggets and chicken schnitzel complete the range.
Many of these products are clearly labelled halal; check the details on each product page. Frozen goods are shipped with GLS from Monday to Wednesday in an insulated box (cool-box fee €9.99), and Dresden customers can of course pick them up in the shop.
Need bread on the side? Look at our flatbreads, naan and chapati. Bulgur, olives and ayran are under Turkish groceries, and everything in this line sits in the kebab, sausage and sucuk category.
Cooking frozen kebabs and köfte
- In the pan: fry köfte and burgers straight from frozen over a medium heat with a little oil, about 4–5 minutes per side, until cooked right through.
- On the grill: let Adana and seekh kebabs soften slightly first so they don't snap, then brown them all over on moderate coals.
- In the oven: bake nuggets and schnitzel at 200 °C for 15–20 minutes, turning once.
- To serve: wrap in flatbread with sliced onion, chilli, a yoghurt sauce and a green chutney made with fresh coriander and mint.
Never refreeze anything once it has thawed. Making your own kebabs? Shan's seekh, chapli and Bihari kebab masalas are in our spices range.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between Adana kebap and köfte?
Adana kebap is a long minced-meat skewer from southern Turkey, seasoned generously with chilli. Köfte are smaller patties or rolls, mild like Izmir köfte or more heavily spiced depending on the region. Both work on the grill or in a pan.
Are the kebab products halal?
Many of our kebabs, burgers and nuggets carry a halal label on the pack, such as Crown seekh kebabs and Leziz chicken nuggets and schnitzel. Please check the information on each product page to be sure about a specific item.
How do I cook frozen köfte?
Köfte and Adana can go straight from the freezer into the pan: about 8–10 minutes in a little oil over a medium heat, or roughly the same on the grill, turning several times. Make sure they're cooked right through, and check the pack for exact timings.
What is tavuk sosis?
Tavuk sosis are Turkish chicken sausages, gently seasoned and quick to cook. Slice and fry them with eggs for breakfast, add them to a pasta bake or put them on the barbecue. We stock packs of 20 and 40.
